Visiting Hochdorf and Schlierbach,
Aug
15

We arrived in Hochdorf, in the Esslingen district. Hochdorf was a small town,
but active with plenty of people. My dad's cousin Ben tells me this was
probably the hometown of the mother of my great-great grandfather
Johann Jakob
Keller. We came here to try to gain access to the local
Protestant church and do some scouting around for clues.

This is Evangelische Martinskirche, the church where my great-
great grandfather Jacob was probably confirmed in 1861. The
visit to this church deserved an entire experience onto itself, so
check out my essay here for more...

The interior of the church. The crucifix dates from 1470, and the baptismal font,
up on the right hand side, dates from 1189, or over 800 years ago.

A closer shot of the Taufstein, or baptismal font.
