Outer Banks, North Carolina

...the van lives up to its stellar reputation of breaking down in the middle
of nowhere. We end up with not one, but THREE state troopers
coming to our aid as AAA changes our blown tire.

We thought about getting a cool photo of all of us standing up
against their three squad cars as if we were about to be searched.
Would have made for a spectacular vacation adventure photo!
But better judgment won out...

Getting the tire changed. The two jacks we had weren't high enough
to lift the van, and we also lacked the right size lug wrench.

An exciting way to end our summer vacation. But all were safe, and
we stopped at the next town to get lunch and two new tires so they
all matched in size.

Didn't faze Michael, though.
Have GameBoy, will sit on a suitcase and be oblivious...
